Megan Britton, APRN-CNP was awarded the Ohio Association of Advanced Practice Nurses Award for Excellence at a ceremony in Columbus, Ohio on October 18, 2018. This award is bestowed upon an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) who demonstrates excellence in the role through any or all of the following activities: professional development, clinical skill, innovative practice, academic excellence, political action or interdisciplinary interaction.
Joseph Jeffries, R.Ph., Pharmacy Director, submitted Megan’s nomination due to her leadership role in working with clients at the Addiction Services of Eastern Ohio. Megan has been with Barnesville Hospital since March, 2017 and in addition to treating clients at ASEO, she sees patients 12 years and older in the Belmont Professional Associates Office in the Barnesville Medical Center.
“Megan exemplifies the characteristics they were looking for in the OAAPN Award. She fosters collegial and collaborative relationships through her work at ASEO. Each day she works with Licensed Social Workers and other health care professionals to coordinate care for our patients in recovery,” said Jeffries. “Megan’s leadership role benefits her patients, her colleagues and her community. We are thrilled to have her at Barnesville Hospital.”
A priority of OAAPN is the ability to foster collegial and collaborative relationships with other health care providers and to promote affordable, accessible, quality healthcare for all Ohioans.

Nurse practitioners are advanced practice registered nurses who are educated and trained to provide the diagnosis and treatment of acute illness and chronic condition. Nurse practitioners are qualified to diagnose medical problems, order treatments, perform advanced procedures, prescribe medications, and make referrals for a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions within their scope of practice.
Megan is a graduate of Beallsville High School, received her associate degree in nursing from Belmont Technical College, and then went on to receive Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master’s Degree in Nursing from The Ohio State University.
