Health Insurance Information Available for Recently Unemployed

Barnesville Hospital and Ohio Hills Health Services have joined forces to assist recently unemployed workers or those without insurance to explore the Health Insurance Marketplace to obtain affordable health insurance. Free health insurance information and application assistance will be available on Wednesday February 17th from 9AM-2PM and Wednesday February 24th from 2-6 PM in the Barnesville Hospital classroom.

Obtaining health insurance can be an overwhelming and often frightening experience, said Lana Phillips, Community Service Director, Ohio Hills Health Services. Our certified application counselors are trained to walk you through the process and explain your options. There is no charge for this service.

Those who are recently unemployed may have a special sixty day enrollment period from the time their insurance was terminated to enroll in the Health Insurance Marketplace. Ohios Medicaid Expansion Program is available throughout the year. Tax penalties may be imposed for those who remain uninsured for three months or longer during a calendar year.

No appointments are required to learn more about your insurance options. For additional information regarding this free educational program or to speak confidentially with an application counselor call 740-425-5160, ext. 1023.
