Barnesville Hospital Offers Men’s Health Day

There is an ongoing, increasing, and predominantly silent crisis in the health and well-being of men. As part of Mens Health Month, Barnesville Hospital will sponsor its 2nd Annual Mens Health Day on Wednesday, June 24, 2015, beginning at 9:00 a.m. During this day, participants will receive a variety of screenings free of charge. Screenings can find diseases early, when they are easier to treat. They can also identify other problems and help lower the risk for many problems, such as heart disease.

Peggy Douglass, Director of Education & Outreach at Barnesville Hospital says, “Because men make about half as many physician visits for prevention as women, the purpose of our Mens Health Day is to heighten the awareness of preventable health problems and encourage early detection and treatment of disease among men.

Health screenings will include:

  • Blood Pressure
  • PSA Screening (Prostate Cancer
  • Glucose
  • Total Cholesterol, LDL, HDL
  • Triglycerides
  • A1C
  • Weight, Body Fat Analysis, Grip Strength
  • Pulmonary Function Screening (Lung Health)
  • Peripheral Vascular Disease Screening
  • Bone Density Screening

The screenings are free and all men are encouraged to participate. To minimize time spent, an appointment is required for the health screenings. For an appointment call (740) 425-5158.
